Deadly Sin: Envy

Dax

I'm so envious of Mama and Jhe's new gadgets, that I could not resist of buying for my own. Though it is 2nd to what I really want to buy.

I got letters from credit companies informing me that they increased my credit limit. (Darn those companies) Tempting me to use my cc's. And yes, they succeeded. lol.

Good thing I still have some self control left. I was tempted to buy the Rebel xti or the d40. I forced myself not to go the camera section or even looked at it. I went around some aisles so I can go to the videogames section where Jhe is.

Yes, I bought him some new games for his PS3. I promised him I'm going to share for the PS3, and since he already got it, he said that I can just buy him some games. Weirdo! thought I can get out of that promise. New games for PS3 is 59.99 usd each. Still expensive!

Anyway, back to my new toy!

I've been surfing around for a 35mm film scanner, reading reviews, specs and all. The ones that are only dedicated to scanning film and slides are very expensive, ranging from 600 and up, and some of them got bad reviews.

When we last went to Best Buy to buy Mama's laptop, I saw these scanners from Canon and Epson. First I thought it was only for photos and then I saw the 35mm drawing on the box. So I made a note for the models and prices so I could look it up on the net.

Both have average reveiw ratings, and good for beginners, and at reasonable price. (Canon is 155 and Epson 105).

Anyway, I was so bored and our internet connection sucks. I can't do anything with my computer, except play with photoshop. (Yes Anne, I did the pictures. I just need to tweak it a bit before I put it on the blog). That's when I asked Jhe to go to Best Buy.

I was opting for the Epson because it was cheaper, but then when I saw Canon, I said 'what the heck'. A few extra bucks for a very nice and high resolution, though it can't scan slides. But it's cool I don't do slides.

So what have I've been doing after? Yes you guessed it.
Been scanning negatives til the wee hours of the morning, lol. I still haven't finished yet.
I have tons of negatives. Good thing is that I already organized my negatives. I purchased some negative holders online and put them on a binder. Bad thing is, I forgot the dates when it was taken. That's why I want to turn them into digital so I can ask family and friends to tell me what the occasion was, and the date. Archiving is a pain in the ***. But a good practice (if you start it early, and not wait for a decade to past). Anyway, we are on the Digital Age. Digicams have exif data, so you don't have to spill your brains out thinking when it was taken, and what setting and scene did you use. You just make sure that you set the date and time right. (Hey Shar, your cam's time is not right. Exif data of the pictures you sent me was around 3 in the morning, heheh).

Yun lang muna. I know "INGGETERA" talaga ako.

Sweet is the memory of distant friends! Like the mellow rays of the departing sun, it falls tenderly, yet sadly, on the heart.
